Hello Friend, this is an humanitarian message:

Some friends from Savona (North Italy) are very active in reseraching about WWII downed planes.
Two years ago they was investigating about a B-24 blew up over Savona on august 12/ 1944.
The ship was the B-24 s.n. 41-28734 , called "NOV SHMOZ KA POP?".

During their researches they was so lucky to find the dogtag of S. Sgt. Richard M. Kehoe. They ask me to help in find some relatives of Sgt. Kehoe, because we want give back the dogtag.

Anyone of the 461st can help us? thanks in advance

Mickey,

I consulted the database of members for the 461st Bomb Group and could only find that SSgt. Kehoe was from Bethesda, Maryland and was KIA. I'm told by the Group Historian that the plane blew up and that there were no survivors. If no family members can be located, the 461st Bomb Group Assn. would be eager to have these dogtags for our collection of 461st memorabilia and files.

Thank you Mr. Blake, can you suggest the address of a WWII veteran association in Bethesda? Of course, if we will be not able to find Kehoe relatives, i guess that your association will be the right place for the dogtags!

Micky,

I'm sorry but during the course of an internet search I was unable to find a WWII veterans organization in Bethesda, Maryland. As Mike suggested above, www.whitepages.com might be your best course since the name Kehoe is at least somewhat uncommon and there are listings in Bethesda, there's a pretty good chance that one or more of those would be related.

I did see on our website, www.461st.org, a crew picture for the Russell crew, #19-0. It has a picture of SSgt. Kehoe and lists him as a radio operater/waist gunner. That information can be viewed at http://www.461st.org/Crews/russell.htm. He was assigned to the 764th Squadron and his army serial number was 33554054.

Unfortunately, that's all the information we have. If there's anything else I can be help with you can contact me directly at daveblake@kc.rr.com.
