Looking for any info/photos of the 23rd FG, 75th FS in the CBI during WWII. My wife's grandfather, Capt. Robert L. Tempest was shot down over Burma in April, 1945. We have a picture of 'Temp' beside a P-51, but little else. We assume it was his. He's mentioned in 'Sharks Over China' on pg 113. I've ordered the book. thanks, jb

Hi all, Another update on Capt. Robert L. "Temp" Tempest. He was killed in a crash while on a training gunnery mission at the Ranchi Range in India, Feb 6, 1945. He was killed instantly after firing successfully on his target. He had completed more than 70 combat missions, between Sept 1942, and Feb 1945. He was laid to rest in India, but was later interned at Arlington National Cemetery, several years after the war. We've now found a great letter from the Chaplain of the 75th. His P-40 was named "Temp the Terrible", No. 176. His P-51 was No. F-55, as best we can tell. Any photos, stories, or other info would be so helpful. My wife is putting together a scrap book for her mother.
