I don't have any kind of email list for members of the 315th. That is one of my agenda items for the reunion.
However, they would need to agree for me to share with others before I would share to protect their privacy, etc. At any rate, after I get a list built, I would be willing to be a clearing house for questions, etc.

Hello. My father, Terry Hill, and I are searching for information about his father (Sylvester L. Hill). He was a bombardier in the 315th BW, 502nd BG and I am curious if you can tell me more about the 315th reunion. I can't find out any specifics on the internet abou it or even who to contact for information. I think this might be something that would be good for my dad to go to and get to meet some of the fellas that may have flown with his dad and gather information about the missions and so forth. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

 Paul...A suggestion...please go to [url "http://b-29.org"]http://b-29.org[/url] a website dedicated to All B-29s, including the Korean Conflict and the Refueling Tanker conversions. The 315th is on the website along with all the 20th AAF Bomb Groups. Jim :-) [signature]

Stacey...you must have missed the Reunion Section on the first page of this forum...it is on the right side of the page....the 315th Reunion is the second one listed. (It was posted on July 21,2004) Jim :-) [signature]

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!!! Well, I think I am missing something Jim because I see the date and that it's in Kansas but can't seem to find a place to get more information as far as times and the exact address and how to get my dad registered and so forth. I have looked in the 315th Bomb Wing Association History book and I find your grandfather was in the 430 Bombardment Sq (very Heavy). Names of his crew mates are:
Crew 3004
AC 2Lt Fred E. Robinson
P 2Lt Rufus M. Marchant
N 2Lt Richard H. Hastings
B 1Lt Slyvester L. Hill
FE SSgt Marvin A. Pleasant
ROM Pvt Jack F Gruenholz
CFG Cpl Rayburn H. Shutt
LG SSgt Joe E. McGlasson
RG Cpl Pleasant A. Phears
TG PFC Ellis S. Smith Jr
AC=Aircraft Commander, P=Pilot, N=Navigator, B=Bombadier, FE=Flight Engineer
ROM=Radio Operator, CFG=Central fire control gunner, LG=Left Gunner, RG=right gunner, TG=tail gunner
I'm not entirely sure that these are accurate crew positions. The 315th flew the B-29B. This model removed all guns except the tail gun and added a radar operator that worked in conjunction with the bombadier for target identification. The radar operator replaced the CFC gunner crew position. The positions of right and left gunner became scanner positions. The crew list given above may have been documented while the crew was still in training on a different model B-29.

You are welcome. I remember getting started piecing together information about my dad and it took a few years to get going to where I am now. I'm no expert by any means, just have some resources at my disposal and a lot of time searching the web.
The problem with this research is that most of the 19-22 year olds of the era are now in their 80s. Their numbers are falling fast and their memories sometimes play tricks on them. Heck, I'm not nearly that old and my memory plays tricks on me. I am trying to gather and put together as much information as I can while they are still with us and get it on the web for some sort of posterity.
I'm glad I could help. Last name is Miller. I plan on bringing my computer and scanner and hanging out in the memoribilia room in the hopes of gathering more pictures, stories of the 315th veterans. Hope to see your dad at the reunion.
