Raymond Yahola

My name is Raymond Yahola jr. My dad was Raymond Yahola sr. He was a member of Headquarters 455th bombardment Group (H) from January 1944 to August 1945. I got have his records after my mother passed away and I would like to find out more about his war, he never talked about his experiences when I was growing up, he just said he drove a truck sometimes. I never pressed the point and now I can truly understand why; I'm a Vietnam veteran myself. I have losts of photos, most of them taken in Italy I think. I have some aerial photos of bombing runs also. The battles and campaigns listed on his records are: Southern France, Naples-Foggia, GO 33 WD 45, Northern France Air Combat, Balkans GO 46 WD 45, Rome-Arno, Apennines, Po Vally, Rhineland GO 40 WD 45. I have no idea what the numbers and letters mean. I am in the process of trying to get all his medals that he never received. I would appreciate any and all the help I can get. My email address is ryahola@crosstel.net

    GO = General Order
    WD = War Department

    The three GO's listed (33, 40 & 46) were published by the War Department in 1945 and are referencing the campaigns your father participated in. Here's a link to GO 24 WD 47 which lists the (1947) updated battle and campaigns which can give you timelines of your fathers' service.

    I would be interested in seeing some of those photos if you'd care to post them or send them my way via email.
