It is with deep regret I have to report the passing of my good friend Quentin Bland, for many years the 384BG UK representative on top of his work as the Grafton Underwood village postmaster. Quentin was one of the three gentlemen who, along with Ron Sismey and Vic Maslen, took your humble scribe under their wing when I was a spotty schoolboy, and encouraged me in my enquiries into what the crumbling brickwork and corroded metal I was finding in the fields and woods close to my house were, and what they meant in a greater historical sense. He wasn't the easiest chap to get along with at times, like so many in this field, but I will miss him greatly. Here is the 384BG Official Statement: Quentin Bland passed away on November 17th, 2009, at his home in Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire, England. Quentin was a stalwart friend of the 384th, serving the Group in many capacities - as 384th Historian in England, as the coordinator of many reunions, and all-around preserver of 384th memories and heritage. His energy, good humor, and dedication to the Group will be sorely missed. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Quentin's daughter Samantha at: Jon and Sam Coleman 13 Club Lane Woodford Kettering Northamptonshire NN14 4EY England Samantha has requested that, in lieu of flowers, friends may make donations, in Quentin’s memory, to the renovation fund for the church in Grafton Underwood.

Thank you for posting this notice, Paul. Quentin will be sorely missed by all of us over here in the States, too. Keep the show on the road, f3

Well noted Paul, also added to the list is John Smith. He will also be greatly missed. I hope that their differences have been settled wherever they are.
