New to Forum, 390BG question - 11/27/2007 07:36:36 AM
Hello, this is my first post.  My brother-in-law's father flew B-17Gs in WWII.  This was his squadron information:
8th Air Force
3rd Air Division
13th Combat Wing
390th Bomb Group
569 Bomb Squadron
Attached is a painting of his airplane.  My question has to do with the color of the nose stripe.  Would blue be the correct color for the 569th?  Also, what color are the inboard engine nacelles painted?
Thanks,
Monty

Hi GrimesinMA

Yes 569th used blue colour on the nose.

Here a list of which colours and code letters the Squadrons in 390BG used.

568th. BI Red
569th. CC Blue
570th. DI Yellow
571st. FC Green

The colour on the nacelles is Dark Olive Drab. As new paint it would be rather dark while as old paint pretty light.
