Need infos for crashside of P 47 in germany i found - 11/12/2003 12:28:55 AM
hello i am new here. i located the crashside of a p 47 10 miles north/west of schweinfurt / germany. from people in the little village i was told that the name of the pilot was Max burriss or burries. ( ia m not sure if the name is right) the plane crashed on the 7th of april 1945 around 3.30 pm. from a german forum i was told that for this day 6 or 7 p 47 losses are counted. so my question is could it be that the plane was a member of the 371th? maby anybody can help me to get some infos about the pilot and the markings, type of p 47. i am working on a privat cronology abotu airplane crashes in my area. also if the p 47 was not in the 371th maby somebody can help me to find out were it belonged. thank you andreas [signature]

In addition to Luc's post;

According to MACR 13626; the aircraft was a P-47D-28RE, hit by flak and crashed approximately 5 miles northwest of Ettleben (the target) on 7 Mar 45. I believe this would have been southwest of Schweinfurt.

 I have attached an image of the hand scribed map included in the MACR documents.
