Need Plane Serial Number On P-400 - 03/01/2006 12:20:54 AM
Could someone please give me the serial number of a P-400 that was lost between Cooktown and Marceba, Australia on 2/25/43.  The plane belong to the 35th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Group.The name of the pilot is 1st Lt. John R. Casey.   Thank You:   John

Dear John,
 
That aircraft is still apparently missing, though rumour says the Pilot got out ok. Somewhere near or in the Daintree Forrest north of Cairns,..up near Port Douglas.
 
I haven't found the serial either,..still unsure of which model (P-400 or P-39D/F) apart from it being a war weary 8thFg Hell's Bell
