Myneer Walker
It is with deepest regret that I post the following extract from the obituary from the Reno Gazette-Journal newspaper (
www.rgj.com) dated Thursday, August 19, 2010:
"Myneer Walker passed away on August 15, 2010 at the age of 91. Myneer and twin brother Mead were born on June 10, 1919 to Herbert G. and Isabel Walker.
"... after enlisting in the Army Air Corps, Myneer married his wife of 68 years, Mary Prida. He served in bombat in the Aleutian Islands as a B-25 bomber pilot from December 1941 to February 1943. He always boasted that he slept in the same sleeping bag for nine months.
"After returning from military service, Myneer became a successful businessman in downtown Reno, owning the Flying A service station.
"A Memorial Mass in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Our Lady of the Snows Church in Reno."
