My uncle, SGT FLOYD D CARLOCK, JR (20th AF, 6th BG), was a B-29 waist gunner who was MIA over Toyko on May 23-24, 1945. Beyond that, I only know that his commanding pilot was either Lts Boynton, Snyder, or Anderson. I would like to find out which Bomb Squadron he belonged to, and which crew and airplane tail # he was assigned to on that mission.

Sincerely,
Dan Carlock, Jr.

Your uncle died on the night of May 23rd or morning of May 24th 1945 on a night incendiary mission over Tokyo Japan. He was a member of Lt. Snyder's crew, all on board were declared k.i.a when they did not return from their mission. Sgt. Carlock was on this mission with my grandfather 1st LT Richard C Willis. You can read about this mission at http://home.southwind.net/-crowther/6thBG/6bgmiss43.html What a small world the internet has created! Please let me know if you learn of any good links, I would love to hear from a surviving member of the 6th bomb group who may have known my grandfather. It would be nice just to know what he was like. Thanks, Sarah Holt [signature]

Sarah- Yes, I was aware of the general details of my uncle's mission (re: MACR 14481). I have also made contact with at least one other person, whose best friend (deceased, unfortunately) in flight school was the nephew of Earle W. Karlsen-- the Radar Observer on #42-24870. When my dad went to military school, he happened to meet the mother of William O. Kent, the Flight Engineer. I am hoping to find a crew photo of #42-24870 (of 6th BG, 24th Sq.). I have replied to you privately, but am posting this msg in the hope that other knowledgeable eyes might read it. Regards, Dan Carlock, Jr. p.s. a slight correction to your referenced URL: [http://home.southwind.net/~crowther/6thBG/6bgmiss43.html] [signature]
