Nico:

Robinson was on DS (Detached Service) with the 9th Weather Recon Sq when he was killed on 19 October 1944. The MACR was 11022. The last time he was seen was at 0810 hrs in the Gravenbroich area. He was flying a P-51B-5, 43-6391, that was nicknamed "Marshall Kay". The German crash site reports lists the crash at 400m SW Koeln-Ostheim. The German Report number was J-2311.

The 9th Weather Recon Sq was one that did not keep very good records and if memory serves me correctly there are only about 300 pages on the microfilmed history for their entire combat career. Many of the pilots to this specialized Group were on detached service from other Groups and often the MACRs for their losses show up with the parent Group rather than for the 9th WRX.

Hope that this helps.  Ted51

Nico:

As a quick follow up to my previous answer....Robinson was previously flying with the 380th FS/363rd FG from 23 July 1944 to 1 September 1944. At this point the 363rd FG ceased being a FG and many of the the a/c and personnel were transferred into the 363rd TRG. Robinson at the point most likely was TDY to the 9th WRX along with 43-6391 which, too, had been a 380th FS a/c. I have not seen anything that would confirm the fact that Robinson actually flew with the 36th FG as they were a P-47 unit. The only other note I have was that Robinsn's death may have been on a training mission.  Ted51

Thank you very much Ted for your information about 2Lt Frank M, Robinson.
I do a little researche on the 36th Fighter Group. I look how many Pilots are buried at the Netherlands American Cementery to Margraten. His name came up. I have seen his name on the Tablets of the Missing. Also I have his record from the A.B.M.C it show’s that he was into the 36th Fighter Group at that time. Maybe he chance Groups and went to the 36th Fighter group to trained with the P47?. In the mean time he got this mission from the 9 weather recon Sq on 19 Oct 1944. It’s Difficult to say that ,but the information what I got from you make sense . His date of death is correct also I cannot find his name on this site http://pagesperso-orange.fr/p-47.database/index.html . This site shows many P47 pilots with planes nr and they MACR records numbers. Thanks Ted to put me to the right direction !!.
