Mishap Information - 11/02/2007 06:14:24 PM
Looking for information pertaining to the crash of a B-24 on 15 April 1944 of the 737th Bomb Sq.  Officers on the crew were:
Pilot             Lawson, Richard C, 2Lt
Co-Pilot       West, John D, 2Lt
Navigator    Mosier, Manley D Jr, 2Lt
bombardier  Bamberger, Joseph

The documentation that I have received state "killed in explosion in a B-24 over Italy.  Plane was in take-off formation when one engine died, plane went out of control, crashed, caught on fire and exploded".

This documentation does not reflect the tail number of the aircraft or what happened to the crew.  I know that the Co-Pilot, Bombardier and Flight Engineer were killed as two are buried at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery and the other is in Nettuno, Italy.  Any information, especially the tail number would be greatly appreciated.

Randy,
Coincidence???  My grandfather was killed in this accident.  I have been researching this accident recently.  Do you have a connection?
Here is what I have collected.  All crewmembers were killed in the accident.  All crewmembers were brought back to US except Co-Pilot West.
The name of the plane was the Sharon Marie.  I too have trying to find the serial number.  I was given a serial number of 41-29263 but have not been able confirm.  Under another thread in this forum this serial number was paired with a plane named Vicious Vixen.  I am positive of the name of the plane.
Any suggestions on where to search further?
