Medical Records?

Hello To All
I am trying to help out a WW2 vet find his medical records from his time in the service. He was attached to the 384th BG . He was a left waist gunner on the B17 "Mrs.Geezil" that was shot down on April 13,1944. on the Schweinfurt raid. My uncle was the Tailgunner of this plane. Both were taken prisoner and they spent the rest of the war In Stalag 17B. I would really like to help this Gent out and help him find the records he is searching for. So If anybody has any tips on where he can look for those records,It would be greatly appreciated!
 Thanks
Semper Fi
 Phil

    Phil,

So that old ground is not covered again I thought to add your other thread regarding this aircraft and incident. In this way members can concentrate on finding the location of the medical records you seek.

    Try here first :

    http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/medical-records.html

See also the links on that page for Clinical " Hospital Inpatient " records, and link for " dependents, military retirees, etc ...

If they cannot help, try asking them for any " reconstructed " records. Go to NARA website and find " Alternate Record Sources " ... I had the link, but thwey have redesigned their website and my link is no longer active.

For your information....The VA has the Veteran's  Medical  Records and they are stored seperately from the St Louis, and so are not affected by the fire at St Louis.

There should be a Veteran Service Officer in your local area.
He/she should be in your local phone directory.
