"MISSION TO BERLIN"

There doesn't appear to be a thread about this, so ...
My book about B-17 Flying Fortress crews was published last spring.
A reviewer called "MISSION TO BERLIN" a general-interest, Stephen Ambrose-style World War II history that focuses on B-17 Flying Fortress crews throughout the aerial campaign and especially those who attacked Berlin on February 3, 1945, in the largest mission ever flown against a single target. The book also includes a new look at the entire bombing campaign in Europe.
The young men who flew and maintained the B-17 are at the center of the story but "MISSION TO BERLIN" also has lengthy passages about Americans who flew and maintained the B-24 Liberator, P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang. "MISSION TO BERLIN" is the same size as my "HELL HAWKS" book of three years ago, co-authored with Thomas D. Jones. The two books look great together.
A member of the 376th Bombardment Group read 'MISSION TO BERLIN" in its pre-publication galley and said, "I learned something new from this." He felt the book described what life was like for these men.
HOW TO GET IT:  Get ahold of me! If you have questions, please PICK UP THE PHONE.
PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer making appearances at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Thanks for your support.
Best wishes.

Good morning, Bob, from heavy-raining A2!  I've just about completed your EXCELLENT book and have found it fascinating, informative, gut-wrenching at times and spot-on! I also really appreciate all the Appendices. With these accolades now in place, I have already "drafted-in-my-mind" my book review for this Site as I am accustomed to do. So now I have a choice, to attach it to your Thread or do a "stand-alone."  Any preferences?  Also, I've "ear marked" a couple of parts which I plan to reference (with credits) in my Thread: B-24 vs B-17 in the "Heavy and Very Heavy Bombers Forum."  I've got two other books in queue requiring review and have yet to purchase Hell Hawks if I've got enough money left in my "retired-book-budget-account." LOL!  At that point, I shall also do a review unless someone else puts one out there.  Hope you are doing well and in good health!  TTYL...

    Best Regards!

    Steven,
I am in the midst of reading Bob's book, "HELL HAWKS". From your kudos of "MISSION TO BERLIN", sounds like my next book to buy. Anyone interested in purchasing one of Bob's books can do so by contacting him via PM this forum. Good job Bob.

Hey guys--been awhile and now that I'm retired from high school teaching (U.S. History and Advanced Placement Economics) I'll be around a lot more (how's it going Steven).  Anyway, I'm in the middle of Bob Dorr's latest--MISSION TO TOKYO an account and assessment of the B-29 campaign against Japan.  Some great first-hand accounts of the Tokyo fire raids in the early spring of 1945 as well as the usual Dorr-like background material (technical and otherwise) to really provide a meaningful frame of reference.  In essence, it's a great contribution to our knowledge and overview of the Superfortress' role in the Pacific war--a truly-compelling and well researched work.

I have four books currently in print:

"AIR FORCE ONE" - about presidential aircraft (with origins in World War II)
"HELL HAWKS!" - a P-47 Thunderbolt fighter group in combat in Europe
"MISSION TO BERLIN" - B-17 Flying Fortress crews in the war against Germany
"MISSION TO TOKYO" - B-29 Superfortress crews in the war against Japan

They're listed above with the most recent at the bottom ("TOKYO" was published last week).
I have under way a vigorous program to donate copies of the hardcover "HELL HAWKS!" to schools, libraries, museums, veterans' service organization posts, and especially Veterans Affairs hospitals. If you want to contribute to this program, call me.
I'm currently writing about American fighter pilots in very long range missions against the Japanese home islands. If you or a family member can help with research on this topic, call me.
I can sell you a first-edition, signed copy of any of the four books listed above. If you're looking  to add to your bookshelf, call me.
I'm a writer. I sit here staring at this screen all day with my Labrador retriever at my feet, hiping someone will call. Do.
