MACR - 02/09/2008 12:13:52 AM
I am trying to find the MACR for a B-25 that went down 12 November 1944, Pegun Island. The plane exploded and burned. Crew unidentified. Buried as unknowns 1945.

Sgt Charles Lunsford 42nd grp, 390th Sq
Returned to KY - buried 1947

In the IDPF: Case History of Unknowns
MACR #R-306
Plane #42-65142

Then in the IDPF: Data On Remains Not Yet Recovered Or Identified
MACR #15273

I cannot locate any of the above.

Suggestions

Thanks

Hi Mike

When I first saw this footnote site I checked it. I found other MACR's. Where did you find this one?

Thanks

Mike. This is what I keep getting.

We did not find any results for 15273 in Missing Air Crew Reports (MACRs) of the U.S. Army Air Forces, 1941-1948.

Mickey -
It may be Footnote - They do not have all MACRs posted yet.
Have you contacted Lynn Gamma at Archives ?
A lot of the MACRs in the 15000s and above never
got listed on the MACR Data Base.

I did a search on Footnote for Charles Lunford and found part of the MACR you are looking for.  It is in Report No. 563, which appears to be pages from a bunch of different MACRs that have been filed together.  One of the pages on Footnote is the "next of kin" list for all the crewmembers.  Other pages present are the witness statements from other planes on the mission when the plane went down.  If you want the entire MACR you will have to request it from one of the other sources.

Mickey,

I have a few pages that reference this incident.  They are too large to upload here - PM me with your email and I'll send them over.
