Luftwaffe ID

I am trying to determine what Luftwaffe jumped my dad's flight on September 28,1944 just outside of Arnheim. The 508th FS was flying a fighter sweep at 23,000 ft. when they were jumped by a mixed bag of FW190's & BF109's. My dad was flying Tail-End Charlie on the first flight when his canopy was hit by the first pass. He was knocked unconcious by a graze to his head & went into a flat spin from which he recovered at about 500ft. This was the same mission that Lt. John Wainwright received credit for 6 enemy aircraft destroyed. Any help in identifying the German group that attacked them would be greatly appreciated.
