There was a Robert E. Patterson who was co-pilot on my fathers crew "Yankee Doodle Dandy"  AC # 43-39953 of the 390th Bombgroup 569th Sqdrn.  Crashed 29 May 1944  P.O.W.

Jaap,

390th BG had mission to Kiel Shipyards on 4 Jan 44. B-17F "42-30320" was named "Coy De Coy". Apparently damaged by German fighters (in target area?)
Crashplace may indicate however that the B-17 at least made it back to Holland, only to crash at, as you say, Oudkarspel (Heerhugowaard). Crew: all POW.

Groeten,

Leendert

Jaap,
390th BG also lost 42-30289 that day: 4 KIA, 6 POW (including pilot 2 Lt James Prophett)

Next to pilot 2 Lt Robert Patterson of a/c "320"  I found 8 other names of 390th BG crew taken prisoner that day, so some may have been on board "Coy De Coy":

2 Lt Russell F. Wahl
2 Lt Ronald A. Watters
Sgt Jack M. Allen
2 Lt Bennie T. Salvo
Sgt Mike Gursky
2 Lt Daniel A. Naeve
S/Sgt Samuel A. Procopio
2 Lt Allen L. Cordray

Groeten,

Leendert

Jaap,
To add to what the others have found.... The 390th BG lists the crew as follows: P Patterson, R. E.  CP DeSalvo, B.T.  B Cordray, A.T.  N Naeve, D.A.  WG Canora, D.C.  BT Gursky, M.  TT Hughbanks, A.  TG McClure, J.H.  RO  Procopio, S.A.  I couldn't find the name of other WG, but 390th records show crew of ten, all POW.  They list two MACRs  2022 and 14404.  390th also shows the crash site of Husum, Ger. which may be very close to Holland.  FYI on pg. 103 of Freeman's, Mighty Eighth there is a pic of Coy Decoy taken just a few days prior to going down.
Regards,
Hugh
