From Book: 388th At War by Huntzinger
Lt. Gierach's B-17 dropped down and cut
the Rudder off Lt. Sarten's B-17.
Sartens B - 17 went down out of Control.
Lt. Gierach continued on the Mission and
Returned to Base.
