My Father, George F Breault was a pilot in the 59th troop carrier squadron, 61st TCG during World War II.  According to his flight logs he was a member of the 59th from December 1943 through March 1945. I have very little information in regards to his experiences during the war.  I have found some information from the flight formation pages of the 6 June website, but that is all I have been able to find.  My father died in 1987 and never spoke of his experiences in any detail.  I would greatly appreciate any information anyone may have in my quest.  I have copies of his flight log from 1942 to 1949,  I would certainly be willing to share any information they may contain.

I noticed this is your first post, so Welcome.
I will try to dig up some info on your dad. The 59th has the fewest records of the group,so some info may be sparce. If you have any specific request, I will try to find it.
 
I would like to know if your dads records have any info from 9-15-44 to 10-1-44? There is a great deal of paperwork on Market Garden, but there are very few names mentioned. Maybe he could help fill in the blanks.

On D-Day, your father was a pilot in Mission Boston, serial #25. Carrying elements of the 3 / 507th PIR into Normandy.

His plane was #42-32932 and he was CN #69 in serial #25

Randy,  Thank you for the welcome and the information.  I don't know if the records I have will help much.  They are mostly flight logs, indicating the date flown, length of flight, number of landings, etc.  Most pages have a signature of a check pilot or the squardron operations officer but those are the only names.  I will certainly make copies of them for you or see if someone here at school could scan them for e mail.  I recently found Virgil Cox's wartime diary posted on another board and it was interesting to see my fathers name mentioned and to be able to correlate the flights he was describing with the flight log.  Let me know if you are still interested.

I'm not familiar with Cox, but I would like to see what his diary has to offer. Could you provide me with the info for this site.

I am looking for some info for a guy who was in the 14th, but as soon as I get finished, I will try to read and see if anything about your dad is there.

Randy, a google search for "virgil cox's wwII service diary" should get you to the site.  As for Market Garden, my dads records indicate that he flew a mission on the 16th of September (3 hours and 40 minutes) and then did not fly again until the 1st of October.
You may already be aware of this but there is an Air Force historical paper produced in 2002 by Maj. Steven C. Franklin entitled "BLACKJACKS AT WAR: WWII & THE 53rd TROOP CARRIER SQUADRON"  It's 93 pages and chronicles the history of the unit from training in the states through the end of the war.  It also includes many photographs and drawings.   I was able to print it off the web, but I can no longer find it.  I do have it saved to disk which I could send to you if I can figure out the PM options. 
I also have my dads flight school graduation books (42-H and 42-I) they have pictures of the  graduates and hometowns listed.  I have read that most of these pilots were assigned to troop carrier units.

A lady that I work with some on wwii related issues dad was a pilot in the 53rd. She might be interested as well.
Looks like your dad only made this first trip to Holland, although there may have been some resupply missions later.

Nice to see that you received good responces already. I have nothing to add about the Normandy flights. Patrick did a great job. I have the same information for that flight.
Your fathers Market Garden flight should be on September 17th. This was the first day of the operation. The 59th Troop Carrier Squadron flew British paratroopers to DZ-X. This DZ was located some miles west of Arnhem, near the village Heelsum. The drop was made at 13.05 hours. The British elements were mainly of the 1st Battalion. None of these paratroopers made it to the bridge. They were stopped in Arnhem, a few miles from the bridge. Most of the man became POW.
The 59th was also involved in towing gliders for the 82nd Airborne Division to Nijmegen on September 18th. On the 19th they flew supplies to Nijmegen and on the 23rd again gliders.
The squadron lost one C-47 in this operation.
