"Lost" units of the 21st BS/30th BG

In '42, just after the Japanese invasion of the Aleutians, some ships/crews of the 21st BS/30th BG were rushed to that area to bolster its defenses while the remainder of the squadron remained in the states and later went to the central and south Pacific. The Aleutian part of the squadron later fell under the command of the 28th, a composite group, and remained in the Aleutians until the squadron was disbanded in '43. My father in law served with those "lost" units of the 21st and I am looking for any information relating to crew records, plane names, plane SN's or actually anything at all.

Paul..........this is "Wee Willie" the 21st insignia designed by the Disney Studio (but unofficial) on a B-24D with sea-search radar. The 21BS was attached to the 28th Composite Group from Jan 1942--Sept. 1943, disbanded in Nov. The "new" 21BS (very heavy) was assigned to the 501st BG in the 20th AF 1944--45. Of the other 2 B-24 squadrons in the 11th AF, the 36th went to the 8th AF in England in Nov. 1943 for special operations; the 404th continued ops in the Aleutians. There is an Aleutians Home Page at http://www.hlswilliwaw.com/aleutians Regards Nick
