RE: Lost B-17 352Sq 5 Nov, 1944 (MACR#10081) - 10/12/2007 02:00:57 PM
Hello,
the plane crashed over austria at the mountain Schöneck, round 90 kilometers south east of Salzburg. I stay in contact with the son of Hillhouse Harry.
I send him a copie of the postcard which his father drawed in the forrest house
schwarzensee before he where captured. On this card also was the date 19. February 1944, married, thats the date Hillhouse has married and that is rigth.
He tell me that it was his fathers write, and the Date 15.11.1944 was the crash, and at 16.11.1944 he was captured, and at 19. February he has married.
The next document was the number of a damaged gun of the plane
1181809, a friend bring them down from the crashside in 1982.
He polished the number out of the gun. And this gun was on B-17G 97728!!!
Who brings this gun from an other crashside on the mountain schöneck????
The mountain is very steep, and you walk to the crashide 7 houers.
The pictures of the gunnumber i get next sunday, 21 October.
If anyone would like to see the postcard and the number, please send me a mail.

Best regards

Richard
