I am researching the above named person for my 92 year old Aunt in Canada-John Red was her brother. He was a POW in Germany #6830 POW number. There is a complete crash report and follow-up on footnote.com. I am trying to find additional info on him for my Aunt. I am retired ANG(124th Wing Boise, Idaho) Any assistance would be appreciated. His personal info is as follows
John Red, DOB-1/1/1924--Service #17067131---POW# 6830----USAAF 15th Air Force Foggia Italy----97th Bomb Group---5th Wing---341st Bomb Squadron-----Crew#3022 Shot down 16th July/1944 over Vienna-Aspern---imprisioned at Dulag-Luft/Stalag Luft
Aircraft info--
B-17G --Serial# 44-6187-----shot down by flak. Looking for Aircraft photos/ nose art/anything. I believe all the crew survived after bailing out and being captured.
