Looking for info about 90th TCS, 438th TCG - 01/28/2003 04:37:13 AM
Hello, for many years now, I make researches about the 90th TCS, 438th TCG. Also, I'm looking for any information or document about this squadron, photos of crew members, nose art, loading manifest, etc... All you have can be of interest for me. Thanks in advance. Emmanuel from Normandy, France. [signature]

Emmanuel, Consider contacting someone at one of the 9th air force websites. http://www.ninthairforceassoc.org/ or http://www.9thaf.com They might be able to put you in touch with other researchers, or veterans of the 90th TCS. You can see (at their website) that the Ninth Air Force Association is planning a trip to France and England in May, and they will spend a day in your neighborhood. They will dock at Cherbourg, then visit the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer and the town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. THis is scheduled for May 16, 2003. Good luck in your search for information. [signature]

Dear Janet and James, many thanks for your messages. I'm going to contact the 9th AF Association, we never know. Concerning Bob Gates, he is a good friend of mine, but he was the squadron leader of the 88th TCS, maybe one of the last squadron leaders still alive. I more especially look for nose arts on which you can see the squadron marking, Q7. So, if you have in your files this kind of picture, just drop me a line. Thanks again, Sincerely, Emmanuel, from Normandy. [signature]

Looking to contact others who have info on the 438th TCG... My step-grandpa, but the only grandfather I ever knew, was John M. Donalson. He was the commanding officer of the 438th TCG at the time of the Normandy drop. I thought it was interesting that the commander of the 87th TCS, Lt. Col. David E. Daniel, was co-pilot with John M. Donalson in the Belle of Birmingham, the lead plain in the Normandy invasion. I was wondering if there is any possible information or photographs that you could give me regarding my papa, John M. Donalson? I'm sure my grandmother, who is still alive at 93, had some photographs and information lying around that may be helpful to you as well. I have a recording or Wright Bryant who rode over on the Belle of Birmingham making initial reports regarding troop landings. Any information or contact would be appreciated. Could you contact me at this email address, thanks: jameswood33@hotmail.com [signature]
