Hi, Quite out of the theme of this thread, though it has some heavy bearing on some of the missing history of then 2nd Lt Paul J Magre. Did you know that in mid February 1942 that he was part of the 13th Pursuit Squadron (Provisional) which was transiting across from Amberley RAAF to Maylands Airport, near Fremantle to load some 32 P-40Es on the USS Langley from the 21-22/02/42? Due to sickness he got as far as Richmond NSW on this ferry flight on the 11/02/42 (there he recouperated) and then returned after the 22/02/42 to Amberley RAAF. Is his ASN# O-428515? If so, then there is no doubt he was saved earlier from the disaster of the USS Langley later on the 27/02/42 He would later be assigned to the Airacobras in March/April 1942 Cheers Gordy B
