Looking for Picture - 08/19/2008 03:23:41 PM
Back in late July, I had the opportunity to go through the Collinsplanes when they were at Valparaiso, IN.  Having read a number ofarticles about what a nightmare the fuel transfer system was, I wasparticulary interested in that section of the ship. Unfortunately, thatportion was closed to visitors
Can anyone point me to where I can find a picture of those valves as well as the sight gages??

See
"FLIGHT MANUAL FOR B-24 LIBERATOR"

Page 51 through 57 for illustrations and photos of the fuel system.

This book is probably still in print:

I was lucky enough to take a flight in June 2004 and sat on the flight deck for take off and landing.  Attached is a pic of the controls.

Art - The B-24 fuel transfer system was changed several times during the course of production. Your 'nightmare' version probably refers to the very early ships which used manually-connected "U-hoses" to route the source and destination of the fuel being transferred. The 'Boiler Gauges' remained, however.
