Chris, Your request gives the impression that these men are from different units. Can you tell us the common thread that links them together and causes them to be on this list? I have found a single document, a statement made by Mark Medick, in which he states that he was the pilot of 42-97202 on a mission to Ludwigshaven on May 27, 1944. The statement does not mention his SQ or BG but Freeman says 42-97202 was assigned to the 351st BG. Dugald Leitch was the pilot of 42-102652 lost on June 29, 1944, 447th BG, 708th Sq. See MACR 6729. Hal After my father’s death, I received his service records and attempted to fill in the gaps only to discover that his Official Military Personnel File (along with approximately 18 million others) had been destroyed by a fire at the National Personnel Records Center on July 12, 1973. After my initial disappointment, I realized how important the documents I had from my father’s service were because of all the other personnel listed on them. So I have indexed the men listed on the various documents, producing a list of 903 Army Air Corp personnel. The common thread is that all of these pilots were listed on various documents from my father’s service records. A couple of those documents are training crew lists that contain hundreds of names. Now I am searching for anyone looking for records on those men. That was relatively easy on this forum, and I was able to identify 191 assignments. My next step is to search the various group web sites for the pilots. As you know, often the other 9 men of the crew will be listed with the pilot. Thanks, Chris

Chris, Quite a project. What outfit was your father with? Curious because the two men I noted above were with different BGs. How far back do your documents go, all the way back to stateside training? Either way, I will continue to look. Hal

Chris, Three more, Richard F. Adam, Jackson DeHaas, and Walter Miller all appear on my roster of pilots in the 447th. Unfortunately my roster does not include serial numbers so I'll need to find another reference point to be sure. Hal

I wish you the very best of success, however I have noticed once again it is largely a Eighth Air Force listing. You want a real challenge locate the Pilots and crews of the 11 BG H, the 7 TH Air Corp/Force or the 13 TH and their Squadrons. Many of their names are listed on Memorials in the Pacific some where, where they and their planes lie only our Lord knows. It is something when you think they were at Hickam the very second the War began and they were there the day the war ended. NO Other Air Corp/Force Units or Squadrons can claim that distinction

Hi Chris, 1Lt Charles R. Allen O-724503 nara pow record - parent unit listed as 303 (303rd bg) from 303rd bg web site (303rdbga.com) Personnel link: ALLEN CHARLES R 2/LT 427TH PILOT 04-28-44 06-21-44 ALLEN,C R CR POW Combat Crews link: Mission 187, 21 June 1944, To Berlin, Germany in B-17G 42-97096 (no name) (427BS) GN-T. It then went into a steep dive and crashed at Schielowsee, Germany. S/Sgt John H. Reed (R) was killed in action. All other crewmen were captured and became POWs. There is additional information available on the 303rd web site. Tim
