Lil Abner 3??,Mamy Yokum II 113 ,Who Dunit?the2nd

Looking for BG & BS members who served with my father, 2Lt. Mike "Rip" McCabe, who was a Navigator with the 307th BG, 424th BS in Morotai. Mission dates ranged from 2/20/45-8/1/45 on B-24 possibly named "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" and numbered 44-41696. Have pics of the above bombers as well as: Marryin Sam 448, Tobacco Rhoda, Two Time 546, Ruth Ann 37?, Available Jones, Bobbie Lou 61? and Daisy Mae 464 Thanks-Jim McCabe

My uncle was supposed to be a pilot on the Mamy Yokum II 113. It was damaged in a raid over Truk and had to land at an unfinished airstrip. The plane never flew again and was pushed into the jungle. There was supposed to be a correspondent on board which means this flight may be documented. Does that help? Steve

I'm not sure how my Dad would have had a pic of Mamy Yokum II 113 unless it was pushed "into the jungle" on Morotai. My Dad's first mission wasn't until 2/20/45. I don't think he could have been there any earlier than 1/45. -Jim

Jim and Steve: The data I have gathered to date, and which resides on the 307th BG website hosted by Pat Ranfranz, shows the following: 19 JUN 45 - A/C 316 Lt. McCullough - Pilot F/O Mihalka - CoPilot Lt. McCabe - Navigator Lt. Heintz - Bombardier Sgt. Jones Sgt. Vaher Sgt. Earl Sgt. Helms Target Balikpapan From file: 19jun45_307_577-424bg.pdf Mission Report posted on the 307BG website. There are more reports to be scanned and uploaded, all it takes is time. Dan B. Odenweller

Hey Dan, Are you saying Mamy Yokum II was renumbered 316? Also Please note the F/O-Co-pilots name is Mihalka. John is still kicking in Idaho. Bill Helms, from Texas, is the only other surviving member of this crew. He was the BTO.

All I can say is that the Mission Report which is posted on the 307BG (H) Website shows A/C 316. No name or full serial number.
Thanks for the correction on the name (Mihalka), I will have it in the next update.
