Joseph E. Adams 04/05/1945 - 10/02/2007 09:22:32 AM
Hello 490th.

I'm trying to narrow down a search looking to find information on Joseph E. Adams who was lost on 04/05/1945 in England and a family member believes he was crewing on a B-17.
That's all they know. I checked MACR's for this date and see the 490th lost two that day. Macr's 13854 & 13855. If anyone has either of these MACR's and can check the crew roster I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks.

Mark,

The quite extensive website "www.457thbombgroup.org" has more info and pictures of crew and aircraft, including the one ("44-8152") Sgt Adams was killed in.
The B-17 had an engine fire shortly after take off at its base in Glatton, England, bombs and fuel on board exploded, apparently killing all crew.
457th website mentions 9 crew members involved.

Thank you for the information. I have forwarded it on to Joseph's sister via email with links to this post and to the web site for the group.
I really appreciate the help from everyone in helping this family find answers to question long unanswered.
Shoo Shoo, you know there's a Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby sitting in the wonderful National Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, right?

Thanks again.
