Do you happen to know what aircraft he was flying on ? (There were six B-17 BGS, and 15 B-24 BGs in the 15th AF). I have a list of the six B-17 missions, along with the crew lists of the downed aircraft...but, the bomb group is needed, to determine whether the aircraft was a B-17 or B-24. Jim :-)
James S. Peters Sr. T/Sgt B-17 Flt Engr, 27 missions 99 BG, 348BS, 5th Wing, 15th AAF Tortorella, (Foggia#2), Italy My Tour was from 12/03/44-06/19/45 M/Sgt USAF (Retired)

Jim, Unfortunately, this is the only info I have. I cannot find an MACR etc. The only Info comes from a Veterans Burial Card. George

Is he the man listed on wwiimemorial.com where a realtive says he died on a mission due to faulty oxygen mask. Not all deaths were result of aircraft loss. You need to get his idpf. That website says from Conshohocken

Dennis, Quite possibly the right man. Conshohocken is in Montgomery County PA, which is the county were John J O'Connor is from.

That website says from Conshohocken He is the one I have been trying to find. The WWII site is one of the first I visit during my research. Looks like another senior moment. Now all I have to do is find the squadron he was assigned to in the 15 Air Force. Thanks for your help.

He was born in either 1923 or 1924. I am highly suspicious that it was 1923. We will find out;-) You do not have to have his enlistment number to order the record, you can do it using the O number. He was the son of John P O'Connor and Anna V Morley.

If the info about the unit in which he served is not posted on the internet somewhere, the only other way to find out if you do not know it is to either order the service record from NARA in St Louis or the IDPF from Ft Knox Ky. The IDPF requests are on a 6-month backlog right now. NARA records should take about 3 weeks - take your pick. This is probably his enlistment record. Still use his O number to be sure. The online NARA database is incomplete and is not exclusive.
