Hello! On Jan. 24th, 1944 an unkown P-38 did shot down a Junkers Ju 88A-4 in the Austrian Alps in high mountain area near a mountain named Hochweberspitze/Glattjoch. Does anyone know details about this victory, especially the name of the pilot? Many thanks in advance! Joseph Eimannsberger Bavarian-Aviation-Historians

I can not say who it was but, it was not the 1st, 14th, or 82nd Fighter Groups. They were flying to Sofia, Bulgaria according to the 82nd Fighter Group website.

Hello Joseph, Are you certain of the date 24th January 1944 ? And was it a Ju88A-4 of the Luftwaffe or of one of the Axis Allies ? Alex
