jj463rd, Thanks for listing these, I am very glad to find this site, as I knew they were recording these for the last few years. Glad they got around to doing it. A great project. Thanks, Phillip

jj463rd, I was glad to read your post about the collection of personal interviews and digital information about veterans of the 5th Wing, 15th USAAF. I am looking forward to reviewing this material and other collections; this is an unexpected resource for my research on the 5th. Thanks Zamasr

You're welcome. To make it easier I made the same post for each of the other 5th Bomb Wing Groups with names of those interviewed listed for those in that group too as well as the 2nd BG,the 97th BG ,99th,301st,483rd but I put the post on the 463rd's website instead of on the armyairforces.com site. Here is the link for that post with the 463rd's interviews. http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/rascal2/vpost?id=2516852 here is the 483rd's interviews as I worded the post differently. http://forum.armyairforces.com/m_146617/tm.htm Plus I put my dad's video on youtube in case you want to see it. It's not really a interview per se but he does talk about 1 mission. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hjq_LvEwIA Like I said earlier I might have missed some veterans names. It was somewhat grueling going through that huge list.

Thank you jj463rd for these stories! I´ve found those web pages by chance guess 3 or 4 weeks ago. Here http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/vhp/bib/loc.natlib.afc2001001.02409 is a story of Francis Flynn, that was shot down on Aug. 29, 1944 and landed 3 miles away from my born town. Visited our town in 1994 again. We believe he passed away few years ago...
Roman Susil Zlin, Czech Republic ...a friend of Joe Owsianik, a former left waist gunner from B-17G ''Tail End Charlie" from 2ndBG,20th Sqdn, that was forced to bail out on Aug. 29th, 1944 over my country.

Great job Roman I missed that veteran in my list of the 2nd BG plus he has a very nice long video interview. It looks as though he went on a bunch of the same missions that my dad went on in the 5th Bomb Wing.

Yep, that´s possible...what was your father´s name?I could check it out on the database of 2ndBG... BTW that man mentioned in my signature (Joe Owsianik) was the waist gunner on the same machine piloted by Bill Tune and Francis Flynn. Joe helped to bring out Flynn from his landing spot to the nearby firehouse on stretcher with the help of local people as Flynn was seriously wounded on his back... I got in touch with Joe thanks to Loy Dickinson (navigator of the same plane) and thanks to Internet. Joe visited me here in 2005 and 2007, 2 years ago I´ve visited him in South Plainfield, N.J. More to the story of this A/C and its crewmembers at http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/aviation/b-17-s-took-beating-11209-2.html , page 2,3,4 and 5...

My dad's name was James Jarmon. He was a B-17 Pilot in the 463rd Bomb Group,772nd Squadron. His name is mentioned in that youtube video. By the way I just edited this post because I've changed the link to the video. It's here now>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGOP53TkGtA So he was in a different group but in the same 5th Bomb Wing. Dad had a couple of missions over your country. Here are his combat missions. http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/rascal2/vpost?id=1784972
