Interesting Potential Discovery - 06/18/2008 12:32:07 PM
When I have exhausted my current line of research, I usually go back over what I have accumulated to see if I can gain any further insights.  I wanted to re-read the history of the 42nd Bomb Group posted to this site.

While looking at the photographs of B25s in the beginning of the book (in the first PDF file) I noticed a photo of four B25s flying in formation (photo in the center of page 7 just before the Acknowledgements and Commendation page).  On a lark, I decided to zoom in on this photo in Adobe.

The B25 in the top of this photo appears to be serial # 30566 which is the plane that my uncle, Stanley M. Rovinsky was lost on.  The zoom in Adobe degrades the original photo, but from what I can tell it definately seems to be serial # 30566.

Is there anyone out there with either the original book or better graphics tools available who can confirm that this is the serial number on that plane in the photo?

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

Your best bet on this is to try and track down a continuous tone b&w
print the will afford you optimum image resolution. Your PhotoShop
software is not your problem and is not degrading the image you
have on file, its limited pretty much to what it has to start with.

Good luck with your project.

Steve, see if the user "WxMan" is still on this forum site. He is the person who provided the scanned copy of the book in the first place. The copy he scanned belonged to a relative of his.
