Information on Grandfather and Plane Mohawk - 02/18/2008 03:03:44 PM
My grandfather, Martin Luther,  recently died and only then did I learn of his military past that he never spoke of to me.  So far I have determined his plane (B-17) was named the Mohawk.  He flew 50 missions out of North Africa from 1942 - 1943. I'm trying to find any photos of him or the plane (including tail number) along with his crew.  My grandmother recalls the names Joe L Sylvester, Dennis Hill, and "Zappie" sp? as crew memebers with him. I've had great assistance so far from Lynn from the 301bg website who has given me what he had.  If anyone else can help with additional information I would be very greatfull.

FYI...Dick Drain's 5th Wing History of Aircraft Assigned, shows the name Mohawk, but says the tail number is unknown.
