I honestly do not know where to post this, but Veterans need to know that this is being done on our PBS stations supported with our tax dollars.

Tomorrow night on PBS Public TV a special making it appear that we and the British were as bad as the Nazis during World War Two is being broadcast.

Fox announced it this morning, it is from a man who wrote the book the special is based on.

Many and most Loyal and Red Blooded Americans and Veterans will NOT be happy with the special it stated.

If we think we need to watch it is a personal thing, but it is being called a "NEW HISTORY OF WORLD WAR TWO".

I thought we should all know this is being done and if you want to see it or watch it depends on you.

Here is the listing for our area.

The War of the World
The Clash of Empires

Monday, June 30, 10:00pm
CHANNEL 39 (WLVT)
  • A study of WWII begins with a look at ethnic, economic and social issues that may have led to the start of the war. Harvard historian Niall Ferguson hosts.

As I say earlier the Fox Network does not believe it fairly represents our or the British view points of the war.

They had retired Military Officers who think this is such a disservice and pile of bull they wonder what government or socielty this man works for.

      Hi PA,

This programme was actually aired in the UK, in a one-off broader canvas, on Channal 4, in 2006!

It was called 'War of The World - A new History Of The 20th Century'

I watched it hoping to latch on to a varitable miriad of historical errors, and ill-thought-out rhetoric from this guy, but actually got to the end of it finding little that I could realistically pick holes in with any real safe manner. The honesty and integrity, and shear bravery of those who end up in the front line is not so in question here, and I think that distinction was well made throughout. All due respect is given. It is not so much a questioning of those who selflessly did that dirty work, but more the agendas, and the spinning of them that lay behind and drove the brave on to the front lines in the first place. Though I found some of it initially uncomfortable (questioning accepted 'givens' is always that after all) there was a great deal to it that opened my eyes to hitherto unknown facts. I tried looking for stuff online to disprove him, but came unstuck when open minded curiosity set me looking for it.

Anyone that knows me on this forum, knows that I would never belittle or detract from the astonishing efforts and sacrifices made by those who fought for my generations freedom during WWII, and that is not in question. To me you are heros all !!! However, there is another side to the paradoxical coin here, and it was well executed and discussed. We are looking at an adroit and extremely well educated mind here, given professorship at Oxford and Harvard Business. I think PBS may have spun the programme badly (for reasons of it own), because I never saw anything previously that ever poked directly at those who put their lives on the line, so I am not sure where they got that.

This is written only to redress the energy of this thread with some balance, having seen the initial pilot programme. My mind remains open however. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It seemed like something we should be at least aware of. I watched it as not to take anyones' word on it and to develop my own option.

Sir, I agree with your views and thank you.
