Hi Phil, Many thanks for your information regarding Hot-Rocks. This was a rather popular name. On the list I have I found 5 planes with that name (or with Hot-Rocks as name): 390 BG : 42-30308 ditched on 24/08/1943 42-30411 crashed on 12/11/1943 in Germany 92 BG : 42-97494 ditched on 22/02/1944 94 BG : serial = ? 452 BG : serial = ? As per information received the plane had a triangel with a " P" on the tail. Best regards Luc

My father flew on a plane named ''Hot Rock". He flew 31 missions. The first was on May 12, 1944 over Leipzig Gremany. The last was on July 25, 1944 over St. Lo France. His name was Warren B. Scudday He flew in the 8th Air Force, 1st Bomb Wing, 384 Bomb Group, 544 Bomb Squadron. He was stationed at Station #106 Grafton-Underwood Air Base, Near Kettering, England The Ball Turret Gunner of his crew was Leonard Niles. Leonard is not the man pictured. The Co-pilot from my Dad's plane was named John Colling. Flight Officer Colling signed on for a second tour of duty and was never heard from again. My Father and Leonard felt that he was probably lost in combat. Leonard, who also stayed in England for a maintance assignment, told me that "Hot Rock" did not return from a mission. This made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I have no more information about his plane. I do not know where "Hot Rock" was bombing. How can I find out more about his plane.

In response to basdpm, I surveyed all the aircraft that the three named crewmen flew in (for the missions entered in the on-line database) and the only one not known to have a name is 42-102959. Is this a possibility for HOT ROCK? f3
