The B & W photo my dad took of post war glider training in Ludwigslust, Germany. As a means to keep the men out of trouble and occupied, the officers had the men train to keep their glider skills sharp. Dad said there was talk the 82nd Airborne was going to get sent to the Pacific Theater. Dad was motivated to get parachute qualified and got his jump wings in Berlin. I have his original certificate signed by MG Gavin.

The colored photo shows the same hanger today. This photo was taken by Jim Goodspeed who annually takes a group of H.S. student to the Ludwigslust area. This area was in the Russian occupation zone and they trashed the place and told the locals nothing of the American/English action in the area. Mr. Goodspeed is bringing the german citizens "up to date" as to what really happened and providing details of the Wobbelin Concentration Camp also in the area. My dads outfit (82nd ABN) met the Russians at Ludwigslust.

The third photo show a certificate that hangs on dad's family room wall.....
