HIROSHIMA 67TH ANNIVERSARY: REFLECTING

While attending the Thunder Over Michigan (TOM) Air Show this weekend with a gathering of P-51 Mustangs, other various WW II Warbirds and the first visit of the CAF's B-29, FIFI since 1989, I took pause to reflect upon the event of August 6, 1945.  As FIFI banked over the flight line, I remembered all those VETS who were part of the event that changed history 67 years ago and helped bring about the end of WW II.  I had the honor to talk briefly with two B-29 VETS, a tail gunner and flight engineer who described for me every move and sound FIFI made (more in a later Thread with pix and hopefully a brief bio) during her run up, fly-by and landing.  My 2 and 1/2 year old grandson was in awe!  Passing a moment of history onto future generations.

    Steven,

Thanks for the resent photos of FIFI; it’s always grand to see her in the air or on the ground, I hope CAF can keep her flying for many years to come. You captured an excellent picture of her banking over the TOM audience.

Today is a day for a moment of pause in remembrance of the events on 6 August 1945.
