Group Burial Information - 03/17/2007 03:42:53 PM
I am currently working on a project to document the facts and circumstances surrounding the almost 600 Group Burials at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.  The below named individuals were interred as a Group Burial but I cannot locate a Missing Air Crew Report or Accident Report to document these facts.  I have been in contact with the website Accident.com and with Lynn Gamma at Maxwell AFB, Alabama with no success.  I was just wondering if anyone had any information pertaining to this crash such as the facts and circumstances, aircraft type, tail number and crew positions.  Thank you for your time and assistance.  These individuals were assigned to the 37th Bombardment Squadron, 17th Bombardment Group (Medium), 12th Air Force, Telergma, Algeria, North Africa       Confirmed Deceased:     Kaestner , Edward S Jr, SSgt,             Macleod, Gordon M, 1Lt, Rohwer, Lester D, 1Lt,                  Taylor, George J, SSgt

There are several 459th BG casualties in group burials there.  I visited once and have the MACRs for them and one other crew.  If you need these MACRs, I can copy them for you.

Thanks for the information.  I have been working on this project for over three years and hoping to have it completed by Christmas of this year.  Just getting some of the records from the Army has taken 9-12 months.  There is one grave that has 17 crew members buried in it, but total aircraft involved is 12.  There may be a bombardier from a B-24, tail gunner from a B-17, etc that makes up the 17 crew members.  I would get a MACR and think I had that grave finished, but would come up three or four short and then have to go back out to try to get another MACR to document them.  I have learned alot from this and want to say thanks to all involved for the sacrifices during WWII.
