Forgive me but what does WO 11/15/44 mean? - 08/23/2008 07:35:13 PM
I am not sure what the abbreviation stands for in this description in the book "The B-17 Flying Fortess Story by Roger A. Freeman with David Osborne"

41-2415 Del Salt Lake SAD 28/11/41; ass Hickam 10/11/42;
WO 11/15/44

Forgive me but what does WO 11/15/44 mean?

Thank you,
Sincerely yours,

Thank you that must be why my wife keeps putting WO after my own name.

Seriously though thank you very much,
Sincerely yours,

I appreciate that Shooshoobaby, I was in a rush to get this to someone who did not have a copy of the book.

The person did not see that two of the entries had a name at the end of them and questioned me about that.

I scanned the exact pages and entries that I typed to him and the names are there for two of the planes, not the third.

He had not seen this before he returned a copy he borrowed and now can not access.
Sincerely yours,
PA.Dutchman

Early days W/O was called Wash-Out, later changed to Right-Off..

Perhaps Write-Off?
