Hello,

I will like to know which the mission of the Group was on February 5, 1944.
This day there the Fortresses of the 8th attacked the airfields of Chateauroux and Avord , France.

Regards,
Frederic.

It was the Group's 23rd mission in response to Field Order No.235.  Col. Tacon led 53 P-47s on a bomber penetration support mission for B-24s attacking airfields in northern and central France.  Rendezvous with the bombers was at St. Aubin at 10.59 and escort was broken at La Ferte-Bernard at 11.23.   The Group then made a sweep north and turned west at 11.32, exiting over Dieppe at 11.59.  No claims made or losses.  Total mission time 3hrs 17 mins.

Dear Pyker, could you please let me know whether you have the complete Field Order of VIII Fighter Command on February 8, 1944, which officially permitted strafing. Thanks a lot. Regards, Filip

Sorry Filip, but no I have not.  The complete Field Order would be far too generalised for my needs.  If you want a copy, you will need to contact either the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama or Archives II at College Park, Maryland.
