RE: Fam.of S/Sgt.James A.Parker, gunner 96BG/413BS ? - 03/22/2008 02:31:17 PM
As you will see on my website i recommended to visit, I earlier found 9 families of the crew of ten.
I could inform them all of details of the KIA/other wise ( 5 got KIA/4 POW/1-via Gibraltar rtd) about details these families never knew of.
Also Parker-familymbrs.-if any- , > I would like to inform them about certain details they have no knowledge of.
(b.a.: James A. Parker's name is on a Memorial in Holland, the family will not know of etc.)
In short there will be a readershelp-inviting article to trace Parker's family, to be published in the NJ-Paper 'Star Ledger' .
Also there will go out a VFW-mailing to their NJ-vets trying to trace possible famly in the NJ-Newark area.
So all these initiatives to inform possible family of this last of the crew of ten.

That's why.

Jacobus,
If I attempt to help someone, I like to know what their motive for a search is. First off, the "Newark Star Ledger" is a good place to search. Secondly, I am a former resident of NJ and will place a phone call Tues. the 25th (Monday is a Holiday) to see if the people I have in mind can help you in your quest. I am not an optomist so cannot promise you good results, only an effort to try.

Thanks for offer to assist locating possible family.
Did you learn my first name from the website on the 'Geyer Crew' ?
I assume you keep me posted.
Perhaps if something to 'report', better send a private message ( Off-Board ) ?

Regards,
Co, Holland.

Jacobus,
I got your name from the profile. A couple of things you should be made aware of. First, the privacy laws in this country sometimes causes problems with a ligitimate search. Second, New Jersey is a State people move out of rather than move into. The people are being taxed to death. I will make every effort to help, but cannot make any promises. I will keep you posted.
Before I retired from IBM, I worked for them on assignment in Amsterdam and lived in AAlsmeer on der dike. Not a good sleeper used to get up durring the night to watch from my 2nd foor window the airplanes flying in and out of Schiphol or watch the barges from Rotterdam to Amsterdam going past the front of my house.

RE-2- : Fam.of S/Sgt.James A.Parker, gunner 96BG/413BS ? - 03/23/2008 08:20:28 AM
John:

Please mail me what's your drive to support this WW-II people's search.
I can imagine but like to read it.

Hear from you,
Co, Holland

P.S.-1- : some info:
On the website I recommended earlier you'll find Parker's photo and wartime-address (last photo on page 5 of this URL)
(His mother's first name was 'Margaret' and their might be a sister of J.A. Parker called 'Anastasia', probably married to a man with family-name 'Price')
I've got here all the info on Parker and his family from Army-reg. Personell Off. in Alexandria, VI
Parker's remains postwar have been re-interred at 'Sepulchre Cemetery', Newark (Repatriated Dec. 11-1948)
I earlier was in contact with every thinkable Gov.- and Community-Org, Libraries (only some basic info) and Hist. Soc. in Newark, no luck,so I'm happy now with the assistence of VFW-and Star Ledger. Hope that helps.

P.S. -2-: Parkers Army reg.# : 12164436

Jacobus,
What is my drive to help you?,
1; That is a fellow American that was killed on foreign soil, the same as my wifes brother, MIA for almost 10 yrs.
2; I am humbled by the many Dutch and Belgium people that have adopted the graves of my fallen countrymen, I saw this with my own eyes on more than one occasion, and the least this old man can do is try to reciprocate in some small way. You may not get an favorable answer, but you may be rest assured, I tried.
I wellcome the additional family info input and I will add the American Legion for a search. Stay with the VFW and of course the "Newark Star Ledger". It covers the central and eastern part of NJ. As to the politicians, I would avoid the waste of time I cannot elaborate in this forum.
If all else fails I will go to the cemetery office in Newark. I visit my daughter in Trenton, NJ (30 Min drive from her house). All this will take some time, as you are probably well aware of.

Thanks for reply and motive told. It's loud and clear and I like it.

Some notes:
-1 A "Star Ledger"'s-Staffwriter has already planned to visit the gravesite of Parker at Sepulchre Cemetery in Newark (Background info for article to
come
-2 The Newark VFW post includes in it's mailing to some 50.000 NJ-Vets also the mbrs of the American Legion

This info to avoid un-necessary doublures by you.

Well, I do appreciate all these initiatives to find Parker's family, including your's.

Hear from you, I keep you posted on possible NJ-developments that reach me.

Cheerio, Co, Holland.

RE: RE-2- : Fam.of S/Sgt.James A.Parker, gunner 96BG/413BS ? - 03/23/2008 03:58:02 PM
Jacobus,
I did a preliminary search on the internet of "Holy Sepulchre Cemetery". I have literally passed through it countless times. It is on both sides of the NJ Garden State Parkway. A major highway traversing north to south in NJ. The main office is in East Orange NJ. Half of the cemetery is in East Orange NJ and the other half in Newark with over 266,000 interments, total. The info states that they do not keep records of related burials of individuals interred there. I will call them also on Tues. to see if they have a record of next of kin. It is worth a try. I am not going to mention to them about the Star Ledger, because they may not tell me anything, but would him.

RE: Fam.of S/Sgt.James A.Parker, gunner 96BG/413BS ? - 03/25/2008 02:56:59 PM
Co,
I am using this medium to reply versus PM in hopes some one in the North East area Of NJ can pick up on a Funeral Home that handled the interment of S/Sgt James A. Parker. The one I am looking for is Burns Funeral Home in the Newark, NJ area. They may not be in business anymore. I got this info from "Holy Sepulchre" today. The lady I talked to, said a women had called about Jim a month ago. She had no personal info and said since the 9/11 World Trade Center destruction, they have been severly restricted as to who they give info to and this includes geneology searches. She did say 18 yr old James was buried there on Jan 15th 1949. I hope to go up in that area witihin the next few months and if you wish I will take a photo to James's grave. Meantime I will keep searching.

Cancel Funeral Home location request, found it.
John
