Evans L Rounds - 02/03/2006 08:16:21 AM
I am looking for information on the 324th FG, specifically the 314th FS.  My great uncle was a member of this squadron.  He is deceased now and i'm running out of ways to obtain information.  Anyone know him?

My father was a pilot in the 314th FS and joined it at Lunneville in 1945. For information about the unit and potentially your great uncle, I recommend you get a copy of "Odyssey of the 324th Fighter Group" published by the unit in early 1945. You can get a digital version of this on CD from Bruce Biddlecombe, 1536 Hardison Road, Williamston, NC 27892. I briefly looked through my copy. There is a Rounds in the 314th chapter (in the picture of the unit communications section). Overall, this will give you a good feel for the history of the unit. Good luck!

Angela - Glad to help. The email address I have for Bruce is biddlecome_history@direcway.com. Bruce's father was the executive officer for the 324th FG during the war. As I recall, the CD plus shipping was under $15.

Did you try this web site 324thFighter.org  They helped me track down a pilot from there 315th FS once.  They have a lot on there site about the history of  the 314th.
