Eleventh AF, 73rd BS. Aleutian Campaign - 01/04/2007 04:45:14 PM
I'm looking for mission logs of pilots/ planes who were assigned to the 73rd BS during 1941 through 1943.  Maxwell research unit has some microfilm rolls which contain some logs.  All other facilities say they don't have mission logs of the 73rd BS

Has anyone out there looked at the films from Maxwell (the ones I've mentioned or others)?  Are they readable?Did they have the subject matter you were after?

If anyone has other sources for Mission Logs of the 73rd BS< pleasa let me know what they are.  Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!

Crowbar:
Ask Maxwell if the 28thCBG has the mission reports for the 73rd BS..sometimes the mission reports for sqds are located within the Bomb Group History.

Hi Titian!

Maxwell AFB has a research facility at the base which can help you research air force military units.  If you are trying to locate information re some USAAF  unit you might start with these folks as they are most helpful and can point you in the right direction if you ask the right questions.

Another source is afhso.resesarch@pentagon.af.mil

B-26.com is another site devoted to B-26 crews and planes,( google search.)

Finally, the book "Aleutian Warriors" by John Cloe, parts one and two, have a ton of stuff about the Aleutian campaign and the 11th AF and its different elements ie the 73rd and 77th BS

If you ever find a source for mission logs or pilots logs from the 73rd BS please let me know the address and pertinent info.  Good Luck in your search!

Pictures of 73rd BS planes and crews - 01/06/2007 08:29:54 PM
I would like to hear from members who have pictures of the planes and crews of the 73rd Bomb Squadron  and/ or the 28th  Composite Bomb Group, who participated in the Aleutian Campaign (around 1941 through 1943).  Hope to hear from You!  If you have a price per picture in mind, please include that also.  I realize it costs to have reproductions/ copies made.
