Downed B29B #42-63600 Relics
-
04/14/2004 06:03:56 PM
Target atlas of Kobe off of B29B (Serial No.42-63600 with nose art of Road Apple) shot down over Osaka on May 8, 1945 to be appraised by a Japanese TV antique show. A civilian witness hid away the perfectly romanized Army Map from the local MP at his risk at the time, and kept secret for decades.
[red] Anyone associated with the 11-men crew or knowledgeable about such US Army Maps and their values sought. [/red]
It was part of 21st Squadron and piloted by Majors Allen E. Titensor & Thomas R. Garrett, staffed by Capt. Luther H. White, 1st Lieut. Samuel J. Chambers, 2nd Lieut. Donald S. Williams, Staff Serg. Charles Babitsky, Corporals Arthur N. Wilson, Louis V. Dombroski, Stephen J. Kaczowka, Perry Frorio. The only ejected survivor Capt. Richard H. Hamilton was later killed on 7/20/45.
Their reconnaissance over Naruo radar facility harbingered Mission#172 (Leafstalk#1) with other Wings (58, 78, 314) that successfully bombed Kawanishi aircraft factories 3 days later.

Can you provide the positions of each of the crewman? It's for some personal research.
Thanks!
