Differences of "Flat topped styled " & "Clam shell " canopies "?

The  DOUGLAS A-26" Intruder" first flew on July 10, 1942 . Early A-26 models suffered from POOR visibility a problem that was corrected in 1944 . A " Clam shell " canopy replaced the earlier " Flat topped"  style canopy . What is the difference in these two canopies ?

The prototype A-26 had a heavy framework type canopy similar to the B-26 and B-25.  The emergncy exit hatch was on the right side of the canopy (the pilot was on the left) and hinged so that the hatch opened forward, which made exiting the aircraft in a emergency while in flight difficult.

The A-26B and subsiquent production models had a bubble canopy that was hinged along the outside sides of the cockpit and allowed for the canopiess to open "butterfly style."  Later production units also had less framework that affected pilot visability.

Hard to find good " real " canopy pictures; these are models, but will help vizualize what Postal described.
