Crew info 42-29940 332BS/94BG

Looking for information on the crew of 42-29940 piloted by Andrew Loog. This ship was shot down near Kiel (Marienhof) on 13/6/43 9KIA 1POW MACR 16200. Loog's daughter (met her at Ardennes Memorial Day) doesn't know a lot and all bits will help her...Already gave her advice in ordering the IDPF and MACR. Paul

Hi Paul I have had a look for the one survivor, 2nd Lt. Robert W. Campbell - Co-Pilot, and i'm afraid it isn't good news. He passed away December 5th 1979. I don't know if Andrew Loog's daughter has found the families of any of the crew? If not the IDPFs can be useful for this. Regards Chris.

Hi Paul According to the crew listings in 'Lingering Contrails of the Big Square A' (History of the 94th BG). Andrew Loog was a Co-Pilot on the Urban S. Adams crew (#M-17). This was one of the original 94th BG crews. Andrew Loog was upgraded to 1st pilot, and according to 'Lingering Contrails' was on his first mission as such when lost. Crew #M-17 listing: 1st Lt. Urban S. Adams (P). 1st Lt. Andrew Loog (CP). 2nd Lt. Charles B. Scott (B). KIA May 20th 1943. 2nd Lt. Donald D. McVicar (N). T/Sgt. Aloyse N. Krass (AE). S/Sgt. Albert S. Kleckner (AE). S/Sgt. Norman Rowe Jr. (RO). S/Sgt. Norman W. Stone (AR). S/Sgt. John J. Cassidy (G). S/Sgt. Philip S. Spofford (AG). I will have a look to see if i can find any members of this crew who might still be alive. As they trained together they may well have some details for Andrew Loog's daughter. Regards Chris.

Friends, Andrew Loog's daughter noticed that her Dad's marker states he was with the 322nd BS....Today I checked his and the other markers of his crew buried also at Ardennes. The others have the correct 332 BS on them.... At the moment we're waiting for an explanation from the ABMC Washington DC office.... Regards, Paul

Hi Paul Sorry to hear about the error on the gravestone. I have noticed mistakes on other headstones at Madingley, and once they have all the details they correct the mistakes. When i noticed these other mistakes i contacted the Cemetery direct and then they contacted their head office. It might take a little while but they do correct them. Regards Chris.

Noticed my Uncle's name was mentioned in the original crew(Donald D McVicar). He was on the "House of Lords". The bombardier or nose gunner was killed and my Uncle was wounded on one of the missions. The ship was hit pretty bad that time. I think the pilot was incapacitated . Unfortunately my Uncle has passed on . My Dad has a good recolection of what his brother told him. I'm wondering if this crew was on another plane. Sorry if it is irrelavant to this thread.

Hi John No, it's not irrelevant. Do you have any dates for what you mentioned? If you have i'll see what i can find for you. You might also want to contact PJP51 (Paul) who is in contact with Andrew Loog's daughter. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Chris.
