Hi Alain, I quote a report Norman Malayney (a very busy 25 BG researcher) has sent me recently: "Misburg and Hamburg were targets of the 8th for two Joker night photo ships. The DEUROG sythetic oil refinery at Misburg had 10/10 clouds, so Hanover was photographed as a target of opportunity by the first Mosquito. The second aircraft conveyed Capt.s Victor S. Doroski/Jacob Hochman (NS 583). Both men were airborne at 0158 and last contact with the crew occurred at 0255 by continental ground station Nuthouse. When they failed to return, Watton contacted 12 Group RAF but no plots were maintained on this aircraft. A search was made in the area covered by the craft but no trace of either plane or crew was found. Later,a Luftwaffe report delivered through the International Red Cross stated: ' A mosquito crashed near Oberschönhage, 6 km East of Detmold. 99 % of the aircraft was destroyed by fire. Hochman and an unknown body were buried ina cemetery near Leistrup-Meiersfelden.' Apparently a partially hung PFB detonated in the bomb bay and the ensuing fiery explosion immolated both officers. Doroski previouly flew secret OSS Joan-Eleanor missions and Hochman navigated Col. Roosevelt´s B-17 to the USA in December." So Doroski was obviously mutilated beyond recognition and he is accounted MIA as his remains could not be found resp. separated from Hochman during the reinterration activities. Regards, Juergen
