Correct Placement of patches for A-2 jacket

Hello Everyone, Can someone give info on patches for A-2. I would like to recreate jacket for 306th BG 368TH BS. Did crew members wear sew on rank or metal. Also did flight crews in 1942 have 8th AF decal on left shoulder or was it Air Corps wings ? Did the leather name strip display last name first and did it show rank. I know that patches were leather disks painted. Does someone have a link that could help ? Thanks for the info !!!

Just a suggestion but if you are looking to replicate a WWII era bomber crewman's
jacket, you might want to consider a B-1 or B-3 style. This isn't to say that the
bomber crews never wore the A-2's, it's that the 'B' types were much more typical
    among the bomber guys.

Thanks Skybear 45 for the info. I only have the A-2 to work with at this time. I figure the B jacket was the "working jacket" while the A-2 was the "time down" jacket. Do you know of anyone that sells leather Air Corps patches Cheap ? Tried FLIGHTJACKETS.COM but the patches are a bit pricey. Have to work within a budget. Thanks for any info!!

    That's certainly a good reason.

As far as the standard AAF patches are concerned you might
want to check out the following link:

    http://www.saundersinsignia.com/

In the area of individual unit insignia I've had excellent results
    with this source:

    http://www.WeBeEmblems@aol.com

    Have fun with your project.

P.S. I should have mentioned that WeBeEmblems
is an e-Mail address, not a web site. Just type in
what your looking and you will be contacted back.
