I am currently building a model of a 535th squadron B-17 as well and also have a question as to the shade, or spec. number, of the green color used on the vertical stabilizer (area where the group and squadron codes and serial number were displayed) during the fall of 1943.  This question may have been answered on another thread but, so far, I have been unable to find it.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Al        the Bulletin 41 colour was Medium Green 42, later ( 1943) ANA 612 in the Army-Navy specs. The approx. FS. colour was FS 34092 , very similar to RAF Dark Green. The equivalent USAAC pre-war colour was Dark Green 30. MG42 was the shade used for the "blotches" on leading and trailing edges especially on B-24s and 17s until 1943.
The colour was more stable than the various Olive Drabs and normally appeared darker.
