Colonel Gerald Brown passed away - 12/13/2007 01:47:30 PM
Colonel Gerald Brown passed away last December 9th, at Chandler, Arizona. I've search, but couldn't find anything about his birth place and date as well as details on his career. Does anyone knows that?

I can't find Col. Brown's enlistment record, but I know he entered service from Phoeniz, AZ.

I have a data sheet on him somewhere with his military record on it...I'll dig it out and post up the information for you.  Give me a day or so and I'll have it.

Apologies for delay...took some time to find the Bio.

After a brief stint as operations officer of a P-38 RTU he voluntered for a second tour, this time flying P-51 Mustangs with the 334th FG, 4th Flying Group at Debden. In September 1944 he was forced to bail out of his burning P-51 over enemy territory, but escaped to return to his squadron, and completed his second tour in November 1944.

Gerry Brown was CO of the 39th FS, 35th FG in Japan when the Korean War started.  His squadron started flying combat on 3rd July 1950 and he was shot down by ground fire on 30th November 1950.  Having spent nearly three years in captivity, he was realeased from POW status on 6th September 1953.

After numerous assignments to various combat units and staff positions, Col. Brown retired on 1st November 1967 as Wing Commander of Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.
